Here Comes Santa Claus
What a difference a year makes. Last year, Maia was 11 months old. We took her to a mall Santa and she freaked out. She wouldn't even sit on his lap. Andy had to sit next to Santa and put Maia on his knee. Totally worth the $15 picture.
This year, Maia LOVES Santa. We first saw him at the Anchorage tree lighting the weekend after Thanksgiving. After the short program and lighting, it was announced that Santa would stick around for boys and girls to talk to. Within seconds, Santa was swarmed. We decided to let the crowd die down and grab some hot chocolate at the coffee place across the street. Maia cried and cried for "Shasha" the whole time we were gone. After enjoying our hot chocolate, we went back and Maia got to sit on Santa's lap.
Last weekend, the history museum had a Santa visit. We went, expecting it to be swarmed. There were about 6 kids there, and no line for Santa. Maia got lots of time with him, and we got some great pictures. She still doesn't get the concept of asking for presents from him, but we'll work on that for next year.

Winter Fun
Anchorage has some great parks and a great trail system. We took advantage of the snow and got out sledding and skiing. Maia loved the sledding, and had a great time being pulled in her pulk (think bike trailer on a sled). She loved the pulk so much that she fell asleep and missed most of the ski.
Note the purple necklace in the sledding pictures. She refused to take it off, even when it was hitting her in the face on the downhill run.

Waiting in Joyful Hope
Petting Rudolph at the Anchorage tree lighting
Seeing Santa at the tree lighting. She is very into Santa this year and cried
when she thought we were leaving without seeing him.
Decorating the tree in her holiday finery- footed pjs, a santa hat, and that holiday staple- a toddler life jacket. She found it in the closet when we were getting out the decorations and wore it ALL night.
Exploring the Nativity with daddy.
We finally found the cable that connects the camera to the computer, so now we can share our recent antics. Advent is in full swing at the Puckett household. We put the tree up early so we could enjoy it before our big trip back to the Midwest. A big thank you to Maia's godparents John and Kay, who sent her a Fisher Price Little People Nativity set. She's loves it, although she thinks all the animals are moose!
